So, Did You Miss Me?

So, over a year ago, I read an article in the news the Russia 🇷🇺 was cracking down on LGBT 🏳️🌈 stuff in the press, etc. After reading this, I went to log into LG from one of the computers at work, and was told “no account found”. My profile was still there, but I could no longer log in. My assumption was that the Russian govt. made LJ delete it due to LGBTQ 🏳️🌈 content. However, I never received a notification from LJ, and this is only a guess. Periodically, I would try again, with always the same results.

Then, last week, I tried again, and it gave me a “restore account” button. Okay 👌. I’ll bite.

So, I am back! Still have no idea why or how, though. Maybe Russia is hoping that I am going to post state secrets, or dirt on Hillary, or something. Who knows.

It’s a mystery...

BLESSED BELTANE

Beltane Bride.

Harken to the drums of the Beltane fire

Pounding out its rhythm as the flames leap higher

Dancing around it, your senses overcome

Moving with abandon in time with the drum

The longing in your belly starts to rise

Along with the passion that shows in your eyes

Sweat soaks your body, your bloods on fire

You tremble with the force of your raging desire

You start to chant the ancient rhyme

Calling to your lover “come to me, be mine

Come lie with me in the wildwood tonight

In honour of the Ancients, let us unite”

Then through the smoke and dancing flames you see

The one that you yearn for, wild, proud and free

Wearing the antlers of the horned god on his brow

He watches you intently, then gives you a bow

You, are his chosen one, he’ll lie with you this night

Deep in the forest under the stars shinning bright

Like the Lady and her Lord, you two will be as one

As you make love to the rhythm of the distant Beltane drum

The drums are now silent with the dawn of the new day

Your loving now more gentle, for no drum beat now holds sway

Buried deep within you, his fertile seed pours forth

With each powerful thrust of his, you feel its potent warmth

A Blessing was bestowed on you virgins both that night

By the Lady and the Lord, the only witness to your rite

Today is our Hand Fasting, he whispers softly at your side

I will love you for eternity, my beloved Beltane Bride.

Blessed Be

She won't recover from her losses
She's not chosen this path but she watches who it crosses
Maybe move to the right, maybe move to the left
So we can all see her pain, she wears like a banner on her chest
And we all say, "It's sad" and we think it's a shame
And she's called to our attention but we do not call her name
The girl with the weight of the world in her hands

'Cause we're busy with our happiness and busy with our plans
I wonder if alone she wants it taken from her hands
But if things didn't keep getting harder
She might miss her sacred chance to go a consecrated martyr
The girl with the weight of the world in her hands

I wonder which saint that lives inside a bead
Will grant her consolation when she counts upon her need
It makes us all angry though we feign to care
But who will be the scale to weigh the cross she has to bear
The girl with the weight of the world in her hands

Is the glass half-full or empty, I ask her as I fill it
She said it doesn't really matter, pretty soon you're bound to spill it
With the half logic language of the sermon she delivers
And the way she smiles so knowingly at me, gives me the shivers
I pull the blanket higher when I'm finally safe at home
And she'll take a hundred with her but she always sleeps alone
The girl with the weight of the world in her hands

The Road Not Taken

Robert Frost. 1875–
67. The Road Not Taken
TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;         5
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,  10
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.  15
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.  20

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday maitha

I liked this episode a lot. It was, perhaps, the best TV I had seen in a long time, so here are a couple of reviews:

Penny Dreadful Episode 2 Review: “Séance”

Penny Dreadful: Which Demon Possessed Vanessa Ives in “Séance”?

Please keep in mind, this is 21st century gothic horror television, and it uses every trope every used in a horror film, so, this is certainly NOT either authentic Paganism, OR authentic Spiritualism. Amunet is, in fact, a real Goddess :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amunet. But I did really like this scene:

Hint: The "medium" is not really where the action is. Keep your eye on Eva Green.

What is Unitarian Universalism?

Both the Unitarianism and Universalism are descended from the radical Protestant Reformation, and, because of this, a UU service RESEMBLES a Protestant service. However, there is typically no cross, and typically no Bibles. No one is called to worship any deity of any kind. Some do, and some don't

UUs are committed to 7 Principles.

  1. 1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person;

  2. 2nd Principle: Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

  3. 3rd Principle: Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

  4. 4th Principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

  5. 5th Principle: The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;

  6. 6th Principle: The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;

  7. 7th Principle: Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

The tradition is informed by 8 Traditions,

  • Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life;

  • Words and deeds of prophetic women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love;

  • Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life;

  • Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves;

  • Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit;

  • Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.

Many UUs are Atheist. Most are Humanist. A VERY small minority are Christian. There are more Jewish UUs than Christians. There are probably more Pagans than Christians and Jews combined.

We don't proselytize, evangelize, or convert. We do, however, teach tolerance, both to each other, and to our children, and we also provide age appropriate religious education and sex education.

This Is How I Feel

Blessed Beltane!!!
